WAGS Rael Vodicka Memorial Tournament Releases New Website

COLUMBIA, MD – Women and Girls in Soccer is proud to announce the release of their tournament website for the WAGS Rael Vodicka Memorial Tournament presented by United Soccer Coaches. (www.wagstournament.com) The tournament website has been given a complete overhaul, to match the new brand behind this nationally recognized all female tournament, but will retain the same web domain.

In 2017 the Washington Area Girls Soccer (WAGS) announced its official transition to Women and Girls in Soccer. WAGS was, for 40 years, a competitive soccer league for girls in the Washington, DC area. The league merged with the National Capital Soccer League in 2016. WAGS’ Board of Directors voted to continue its mission to empower girls and women through soccer, by forming a charitable organization.  Retaining the well-recognized acronym WAGS, which has always been synonymous with women and girls in soccer.

To match the organization’s new brand and mission, the tournament website has been outfitted with a modern, streamlined functionality with user friendly information conveniently located on a left tool bar. There are specific sections designated to popular tournament questions like application, documents, travel and vendors; as well as sections for non-participant needs including college coaches and referees. Event highlights such as the schedules/ scores, field locations, and tournament apparel are all featured at the top right-hand section of the page for prominence and convenient access. The website also boasts additional information on the new WAGS 501 C (3), as well as information about the history of the event and the connections with its partners.

The website was originally conceptualized by WAGS Chairwoman, Lula Bauer, and Executive Director, Kerry Diederich. Heidi Magnuson, Principal of New Leaf Design was the primary web designer, with consulting assistance from Justin McCraw, Technology and Digital Media Manager of Elite Tournaments. All parties involved are thrilled for the release of the website and excited about the new chapters in store for the WAGS Tournament.
